THEODORE CHAPUIS DIED SATURDAY
Old Time Resident Passed Away After Weeks of Illness At Hospital

Theodore CHAPUIS, since 1852 a resident of Jefferson county, died Saturday night at the Jefferson County hospital where he had been ill for weeks.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at the Butler undertaking parlors and will be in charge of Rev. R. H. Polly of the Christian church. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Theodore CHAPUIS was born July 6 1834 in Belport France. He came to this county with his parents in the year 1847, landing at New Orleans on July 16 after being on the water 59 days. From New Orleans they traveled by boat to St. Louis and in 1852 he moved to Jefferson county where, April 21, 1857, he was united in marriage to Justine E. BRUEY. To this union there was born five children, Peter P. CHAPUIS now living in Cedar Township in this county, Mrs. Mary MARTIN of Whittier, California, Mrs. John W. COX of White Water Colorado, L. T. CHAPUIS of Fairfield, one son Louie having died in infancy. His wife preceded him in death in the year 1913.

When his son Louis visited him at the hospital Saturday afternoon and inquired of him how he felt his father answered him in his native tongue "le finis" which means the end.

It was the request of the deceased that there be no flowers at his funeral.
