L. CHAPIUS (sic - CHAPUIS) DEAD

Louis CHAPIUS, former resident of Fairfield, died this noon at the St. Jospech (sic) Hospital in Ottumwa following a lingering illness (note: in Wapello Co., IA). The body is at the Murray Funeral Home and funeral arrangements are pending word from relatives.

Funeral For Louis CHAPIUS (sic) Tomorrow

Funeral services for Louis CHAPIUS, who died at noon Saturday in the St. Joseph Hospital, at Ottumwa, will be held tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 p.m. at the Murray Funeral Home.

Rev. S. P. Williamson will officiate. Interment will be in Evergreen cemetery.

L. T. CHAPIUS (sic)

L. T. CHAPIUS, son of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore CHAPIUS, was born in Cedar township, Jefferson county, Iowa, July 5, 1862, and departed from this life January 22, 1938, at St. Joseph Hospital in Ottumwa, Ia., at the age of 75 years, 6 months and 17 days, after an illness of nearly two months.

He was aways (sic) helpful and considerate as a neighbor and friend.

He leaves one sister, Mrs. J. W. COX of Whitewater, Colorado, and five nieces, Mrs. Jessie BACKMORE of Grand Junction, Colo., Mrs. Richard BENNETT of Whitaker, Calif., Mrs. Isa COX of Whitewater, Colo., Mrs. Flora BRYAN of Davenport, Ia., and four nephews, Lou and Ray CHAPIUS of Stockport, It. (sic), Walter and Clay CHAPIUS of Fairfield.

One brother Peter CHAPIUS, one sister Mrs. Dan MARTIN, and one nephew Let CHAPIUS preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held from the Murray Funeral Home last Tuesday, conducted by Mr. Williamson, minister of the First Christian church of Fairfield. the hymns "Going Down the Valley," and "Nearer My God to Thee" were sung by Mrs. Williamson and Mrs. A. C. Johnson with Miss Reva Patten accompanying. The remains were interred in Evergreen cemetery.
