MRS. THEO. CHAPIUS (sic - CHAPUIS) DIED LAST EVENING.

Mrs. Justine BRUIZ CHAPIUS (sic - BRUEY CHAPUIS), wife of Theodore CHAPIUS, passed away last evening at seven o'clock at her home on South Third street. Mrs. CHAPIUS had been in failing health for over a year but her illness was not considered serious until two days ago.

Mrs. CHAPIUS was born in Belfort, France, June 20th (sic - 12th, per her gravestone), 1840, and came to theU nited States (sic) in 1856. The following year she was united in marriage with Theodore CHAPIUS and to them four chilhdren (sic) were born, two sons, Louis and Peter of this city, and two daughters Mrs. Mary MARTIN of Kenesaw, Neb., and Mrs. John COX of White Water, Colorado. Besides the husband and children Mrs. CHAPIUS leaves one brother Richard BRUIZ of this city to mourn her death.

Mrs. CHAPIUS was a faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic church. She was of a retiring disposition and during the many years of her residence in this county has gathered around her a large circle of frtiends (sic).

The funeral will be held from St. Mary's church but definite arrangements will not be made until Mrs. COX is heard from.

Note: Buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield, IA, in Lot 2nd.007. Husband Theodore died in 1925 and is buried with her. The surname is often mis-spelled as CHAPIUS; it should be CHAPUIS.
