STOCKPORT, Ia. -- Mrs. Clay CHAPUIS, well known Van Buren county farm resident, died suddenly about 6:45 p.m. Monday at her farm home five miles south of Stockport. She had been in failing health for the past several years but her death was sudden and unexpected.
The body is at the Weston Behner funeral home in Fairfield where last rites are pending.
Mrs. Helen CHAPUIS, 60, was born Nov. 8, 1898, in Jefferson county, the daughter of the late Axel and Mary FREEBURG PETERSON. She was united in marriage on April 6, 1939, to Clay CHAPUIS who survives. The wedding took place at Fairfield.
Since her marriage Mrs. CHAPUIS has lived in the Stockport community. She was a member of the First Lutheran church in Fairfield.
Besides her husband, she is survived by one brother, Earl PETERSON, Ottawa, Ill.; and four sisters, Mrs. Raymond BERG, Brighton; Mrs. Frank BERG, Fairfield; Mrs. E. O. HOEFER, Brighton; and Mrs. Alvin BUHMEYER, Burlington.
Clay CHAPUIS was a custodian at the Jefferson county hospital in Fairfield for a number of years before moving to the Stockport community.
