STOCKPORT, Ia.--Clay CHAPUIS, 78, Stockport farmer, died at 12:25 a.m. today at Van Buren Memorial hospital in Keosauqua (note: in Van Buren Co., IA). He had been seriously ill for five days.
Services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Weston Behner Funeral home in charge of the Rev. Chester C. Werft. Military rites will be conducted by the Stockport American Legion in Evergreen cemetery.
CHAPUIS was born Jan. 6, 1887 in Van Buren county, the son of Peter and Mary DROZ CHAPUIS. He was married to Helen PETERSON April 6, 1939. She preceded him in death May 11, 1959.
CHAPUIS was a veteran of World War I and a member of the Stockport American Legion. He had lived in his present farm home six miles south of Stockport for 25 years. He also served as custodian of the Jefferson County hospital in Fairfield for 25 years.
Surviving are the following brothers and sister: Ray CHAPUIS, Stockport; Walter CHAPUIS, Fairfield; Louis CHAPUIS, Keosauqua; and Mrs. Iola JOHNSTON, Memphis, Mo. One brother and one sister are deceased.

Automobile & Pickup Truck: 1955 Chevrolet 6-cyl. 4-door sedan with radio, heater, auto. trans.; 1949 Ford ¾-Ton pickup truck.
HOUSEHOLD GOODS: International Harvester refrigerator, Perfection bottle gas stove; Monogram bottle gas space heater with blower, near new; Monogram oil burning space heater, with blower; K-M elec. space heater; walnut chest of drawers; davenport & chair; copper clad iron cook stove; Damascus elec. sewing machine; RCA comb. radio & record player; Seth Thomas mantle clock; Round Oak dining table; dressers, chests of drawers, roll-a-way bed; kerosene and Aladdin lamps; old picture frames.
