DEATH TAKES G. A. CASTILE

Gust A. CASTILE, 80, well-known retired farmer and a life-time resident of Jefferson county, passed away at 3:30 p.m. Friday afternoon at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John STOUT, 408 East Adams street.

Mr. CASTILE had been seriously ill for the past six weeks.

Last rites will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Weston Behner funeral home with Dr. E. A. Piper in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. Members of Jefferson Lodge No. 4 IOOF, will have charge of the services at the grave.

Gust A. CASTILE was born July 3, 1868, in Lockridge township near Salina. He was the son of the late Andrew and Sarah ANDERSON CASTILE. Mr. CASTILE was a prominent farmer in the county for many years before moving to Fairfield.

He was united in marriage February 25, 1891, to Lillian KAUFFMAN. She passed away in February, 1918. In 1920 he married Mrs. Margaret LAUGHRIGE who passed away in 1932.

Mr. CASTILE is survived by the following children: R. B CASTILE, Fairfield; H. H. CASTILE, Panora, Iowa; Mrs. John STOUT, Fairfield; A. D. CASTILE, Detroit, Mich. He is also survived by the following step-children: C. L. LAUGHRIGE, Lake City, Iowa; Robert LAUGHRIGE, Bloomfield; a brother, R. L. CASTILE, Le Grand, California; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

He was a member of the Methodist church, and one of the oldest living members of the local Odd Fellows lodge. He joined that organization February 21, 1905 and had been active in the lodge since Mr. CASTILE was one of two surviving children of a family of 12.
