MRS. M. CARTER DEAD.

Mrs. Mathew CARTER died this morning about five o'clock after several months of suffering, at her home on West Kirkwood street.

Marilla SALLADY CARTER was born near Burlington Iowa in 1851, and was the daughter of Isaac SALADY (sic) who resides on West Briggs street(.)

She was united in marriage to Mathew CARTER in 1871. Seven children were born to them who with their father are left to mourn the death of their mother. They are Lloyd CARTER of this city; Mrs. S. G. FLETCHER, GrandFoorks (sic) North Dakota; John CARTER, Lansing Kan. Mrs. O. J. DONNER, Mrs. Ed RUSSELL Mrs. John VANCE, Mrs. Ruth MILLER Miss Coorriene CARTER of this city.

The family moved to this city about ten years ago from Kansas and have since made this their home. The funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at two o'clock at the residence. Rev. W. Luther Bright of the English Lutheran church will have charge of othe (sic) last services.

... --The funeral of Mrs. Mathew CARTER, who deid (sic) Saturday morning at her home on West Kirkwood street after an illness of several months, was held this afternoon at two o'clock at the residence and the remains were laid to rest in Evergreen cemetery. Rev. W. Luther Bright, pastor of the English Lutheran church conducted the last services.

Obituary.

Marilla SALLADY was born in Des Moines county, Iowa, August 18, 1850. She came to Jefferson county with her parents who located about five miles northeast of Fairfield in the year 1854. She became the wife of Matthew CARTER in 1871.

She departed this life to enter upon life eternal about 4:40 o'clock on the morning of February 13, 1909, at her residence, No. 702 West Kirkwood street, in this city, aged 57 years, 5 months and 25 days.

She united with the First English Evangelical Lutheran church of this city, by profession of her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior May 15, 1907, since which time she has been an acceptable member.

She leaves to mourn her departure, Matthew CARTER, Corinne CARTER and Lloyd CARTER of this city, Mrs. S. C. FLETCHER of Grand Forks, N. D., Jno. CARTER of Lansing, Kan., Mrs. O. J. DONNER of Custer, S. D., Mrs. Ed RUSSELL, Mrs. Jno. VANCE and Mrs. Ruth MILLER of this city. Ida May CARTER departed this life a number of years ago.
