SERVICES FOR C. G. CARLSON TO BE SUNDAY
Passed away yesterday at University hospital in Iowa City

C. Gust CARLSON, 81, resident of Jefferson county for 50 years, passed away at the University hospital in Iowa City at 5:00 p.m. yesterday. He had been seriosuly ill for the last four weeks.

Funeral services will be held at the First Lutheran church in Fairfield. They will be held on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in charge of the Rev. E. A. Piper. Interment will be in Evergreen cemetery. The body has been taken to the Hoskins funeral home.

Mr. CARLSON was born on October 26, 1859 in Sweden. He had been employed by the Iowa Malleable Iron company for 30 years.

Surviving are his wife, Edith CARLSON, one daughter, Mrs. Eleanora GAUMER of East Moline, Ill.; two sons, Walter R. CARLSON of Elmhurst, Ill. and Tilford CARLSON of Fairfield, seven grandchildren. One son, Carl, passed away in 1931.

Services For C. Gust CARLSON Will Be Held On Sunday

Funeral services for C. Gust CARLSON, who passed away on March 27, at an Iowa City hospital will be held at the First Lutheran church. Services will be held on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in charge of the Rev. E. A. Piper. He will be assisted by Rev. K. W. Erickson.

C. GUSTAVUS CARLSON

Charles Gustavus CARLSON was born on Boxholm, Ostergotland, Sweden, October 26, 1859. He was the son of Carl and Frederika CARLSON. He came to Salina, Iowa, at the age of 16. Until moving to Fairfield thirty years ago he spent his life as a farmer in Jefferson county. The last thirty years of his life he has been employed by the Iowa Malleable Iron co.

He is survived by his wife, Edith CARLSON, and one daughter, Eleanora GAUMER of East Moline, Ill.; two sons, Walter of Elmhurst, Ill. and Tilford of Fairfield. Seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive. One son, Carl, preceded him in death in 1931. A niece, five nephews and a host of friends also mourn his passing.

He was confirmed and baptized in the Lutheran faith and was a member of the First Lutheran church. His faith in his Savior strengthened him during his life and sustained him during his last hours.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon March 31 at 2:00 p.m. in the First Lutheran church in charge of Rev. E. A. Piper pastor of the church assisted by Rev. K. W. Erickson, pastor of the Foursquare church. Ray Mulkins and Mrs. William Stever sand three songs "What a Friend We Have in Jesus", "The Old Rugged Cross", and "Rock of Ages." Mrs. Glenn Bates accompanied on the piano and Miss Ruth Swanson at the organ.

The funeral was one of Fairfield's largest and the many and beautiful floral tributes at the altar bore mute evidence of the high esteem and personal regard with which the friends and associates held Mr. CARLSON.

The pallbearers were the men with whom he had worked for many years: William Brown, Jake Miller, Harry Beer, George Buchanan, Mark Baker and Morris Van Lantschoot.

He was laid to rest in the Evergreen cemetery in the family lot by the side of his son Carl.

Among the many out of town relatives and friends who attended the funeral were: Mrs. Eleanora GAUMER, her daughter Helen and son Archie, Mr. and Mrs. Harold GAUMER, Mrs. Minnie Ostroff, and Mr. and Mrs. A. Burdwell from East Moline, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Walter CARLSON from Elmhurst, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Roy PETERSON and daughter Ann and Mrs. Anna NELSON and daughter Violet from Ottumwa; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer CARLSON and daughter Florence from Colfax; Mr. and Mrs. Henry CARLSON from New London; and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Holmes, Mrs. Alice Harness and Mrs. Claude Connor from Batavia.
