Mrs. CARBAUGH Was In Usual Health Saturday; Funeral Was This AfternoonMrs. Harriett CARBAUGH was found dead in bed Sunday morning at her home, 605 West Kirkwood street, by Mrs. Baker who has rooms in the house. Mrs. Baker had visited with Mrs. CARBAUGH late Saturday evening at which time she appeared to be in the best of health. On Mrs. CARBAUGH's not being around Sunday morning as usual, Mrs. Baker's suspicions were aroused and she went into her room and finding her dead. Death was probably due to a stroke of paralysis and had from all appearances she had died without a struggle. Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2 oclock from the Butler Funeral home in charge of Rev. R. H. Polly. Interment was made in the Evergreen cemetery.
Mr. CARBAUGH was 83 years old. Her husband preceded her in death 15 years ago as did also her son Joseph CARBAUGH who died in 1923. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. C. E. KRUGER (sic - KRUEGER) of Batavia.

Polly From the Butler Funeral HomeFuneral services for Mrs. Harriett CARBAUGH, who was found dead in bed Sunday morning, were held yesterday afternoon from the Butler Funeral Home in chagre (sic) of Rev. R. H. Polly, pastor of the Christian church. Mrs. Norvell Switzer and Miss Mary Stever sand, "Rock of Ages," "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," and "Abide With Me.."
Interment was made in Evergreen cemetery.

HARRIETT CARBAUGH
Harriett Neff CARBAUGH was born in Frostburg, Maryland, March 11, 1844, and departed this life at her home in Fairfield, Iowa, May 15, 1927, at the age of 83 years, two months and four days. When eleven years of age she came with her parents in a covered wagon to Iowa in the year 1853 and never tired of telling of her experiences of the journey. They first settled in Des Moines but finally located on a farm near Glasgow. She was the last of a family of fourteen children.
In the year 1864 she was united in marriage to A. R. CARBAUGH who preceded her in death in 1912. To this union two children were born, Joseph F. who passed away in 1923 and Alice KRUEGER of Batavia. She is also survived by one grandson, Wayne KRUEGER. She spent the greater part of the time since her son's death at the home of her daughter where she was tenderly cared for in her declining years. She had been home for only a couple of weeks being anxious to see flowers in which she found much comfort. She united with the Methodist Protestant church early in life.
Funeral services were held from the Butler funeral home Monday afternoon at two oclock by Rev. R. H. Polly of the Christian church. Mrs. Norvell Switzer and Miss Mary Stever sang "Rock of Ages", "Beautiful Isle" and "Abide With Me." Interment was made in Evergreen cemetery.
