Death of W. A. CANTERBURY.

William A. CANTERBURY, who has lived on a farm two miles west of this city for twenty-six years, died Thursday, after several years of failing health. He was born in Monroe county, West Virginia, March 19th, 1823, and grew to manhood in Ohio. In 1843 he was married to Barbara E. VAN PELT, who survives him. They reared a family of nine children, six sons and three daughters, six of whom are now living. The family has resided in Jefferson county since 1865. Mr. CANTERBURY was an affectionate husband and father and a man of excellent parts. There are many friends who will join the family in mourning his death. Funeral services were held at the First Methodist church, this city, Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. J. A. Boatman. The famiy wishes to publicly express its thanks to the friends who extended its members aid and sympathy in this time of trouble.

Death of Wm. CANTERBURY.

The sad death of Wm. CANTERBURY occurred Thursday night at half past nine o'clock, of inflamation of the brain, after an illness of ten days. The funeral services were held at the Methodist church in this city Saturday afternoon, Rev. J. A. Boatman conducting them, and the remains were interredin (sic) the Evergreen cemetery. Mr. CANTERBURY was born in Monroe county, West Virginia, March 19, 1823, and with his parents moved to Ohio when a boy and there made his home until August, 1865, when he moved to this county and has lived here ever since, residing on a farm two and a half miles west of town, where he died. He was married on Nov. 24, 1843, to Barbara E. VAN PELT, and to them were born nine children, six boys and three girls, six of whom with their mother survive him.
