MRS. CANTERBURY PASSED AWAY HERE
Funeral Arrangements Will Not Be Made Until Relatives Are Heard From

Mrs. James M. CANTERBURY passed away this morning at 6:15 oclock at her home 507 West Stone after an illness of several months. The past week her condition had been very critical.

No funeral arrangements will be made until relatives at a distance can be heard from.

Mrs. CANTERBURY was formerly Miss Mary Elizabeth ORTH and she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. ORTH. She was born in Pennsylvania June 9, 1849, and for nearly 53 years has resided at Fairfield. Besides her aged husband she is survived by one sister, Mrs. Minerva BAKER of Wisconsin and the following daughters: Mrs. Odie ABRAHAM of Ottumwa; Mrs. John BARE of Gladstone, Michigan and Mrs. Orville J. JOHNSON of Fairfield. The eldest daughter Malinda and the youngest daughter Ada Grace died in infancy.

CANTERBURY FUNERAL TOMORROW AT 3

The funeral services for Mrs. James M. CANTERBURY, who died yesterday morning at her home 507 West Stone, will be held tomorrow afternoon at three oclock from the Christian church, in charge of the pastor, Rev. R. H. Polly. Interment will take place in Evergreen cemetery.

CANTERBURY, Mrs James M.-- Died Tuesday, February 13, at her home on West Stone street following an illness of several months.

Mrs. CANTERBURY was born in Pennsylvania, in 1840 (sic - 1849), the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. ORTH, and has been a resident of Fairfield for more than fifty-two years. She is survived by her husband and four daughters, one of who, Mrs. Orville JOHNSON, lives in Fairfield. Two daughters died in infancy.

OBITUARY

Mrs. James CANTERBURY

Mary Elizabeth, daughter of Rev. W. W. and Mary Elizabeth ORTH, was born in Clarion county, Pa., June 9, 1849, and departed this life at her home in Fairfield, Iowa, February 13, 1923, at the age of 73 yrars, 8 months and 4 days.

When a child she moved with her parents to Ohio. On December 12, 1867 she was married to James M. CANTERBURY and came as a bride to Jefferson county, where she has since resided. To this union were born, six daughters, two of whom died in infancy. Besides her aged husband she leaves to mourn her loss, four daughters, Mrs. Viola ROBERTS, Lawrence, Kansas; Mrs. Blanche ABRAHAM, Ottumwa, Ia.; Mrs. Rosabel BARE, Gladstone, Michigan; Mrs. Anna JOHNSON, of Fairfield; six grandchildren, two great grand children, also one sister, Mrs. Minerva BAKER of Wisconsin.

Mrs. CANTERBURY was of a quiet and unassuming disposition and found her greatest happiness in her home and family. She confessed her faith in Christ and united with the Methodist church when a young girl.

Funeral services were held in the Christian church by Rev. R. H. Polly, Thursday afternoon at three oclock. Interment was made in Evergreen cemetery.
