Mrs. Barbara Ellen CANTERBURY passed away Saturday morning about two o'clock at the home of her son, A. L CANTERBURY, after several weeks illness of tumor of the stomach(.) Deceased was in the 85th year of her age and is survived by several children. She had been a resident of this city for a number of years and was well known here. The funeral services were held from the home yesterday afternoon at three o'clock. Rev. Thomas Osborn conducted the last services(.)

Barbara Ellen VANPELT was born in Cortland, Morgan county, Alabama, Nov. 10, 1822, and died at her home in this city Saturday, Aug. 31st, 1907, aged 84 years, 9 months and 20 days. She was married to Wm. A. CANTERBURY Oct. 24th, 1843. To them were born nine children, six of whom are still living. They are: Mrs. Sarah HARRISON of West Mineral, Kans.; Mrs. Laura McGEARY, of Kansas City, Mo.; A. N. CANTERBURY, of Columbus, Ohio; Wm. T., of Eldon, Iowa; James M. and A. L. of Fairfield.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the home, conducted by Rev. Thos. Osborn and the remains laid to rest in Evergreen cemetery.

Barbara Ellen VAN PELT, widow of William A. CANTERBURY, died in this city Saturday. She was born in Cortland, Ala., November 10th, 1822, and was married October 24th, 1843. She was the mother of nine children, six of whom survive the parents--James M. and A. L. of this city, Mrs. Sarah HARRISON of West Mineral, Kan., Mrs. Laura McGEARY of Kansas City, Mo., A. N. of Columbus, O., and William T. of Eldon. The family lived for many years on a farm west of this city and Mrs. CANTERBURY had many friends among her old neighbors, for she was a good woman and a kindly friend. Funeral services were held in this city Sunday, with Rev. Thos. Osborn in charge.
