Death came Monday afternoon at 1:05 p.m. to Mrs. Alice M. CANTERBURY, 102, Jefferson County's oldest resident.
She had made her home at the Nelson Nursing home since breaking her hip in 1968. The family home was at 706½ S. Fifth.
Funeral services will be held at the Weston Behner Funeral Home Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. in charge of Pastor Hoyt L. Whitebread. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mrs. CANTERBURY was born May 9, 1869 at Ashippun, Wis., the daughter of Rasmus and Martana CHRISTENSEN. She was first married to Samuel WILSON.
On March 2, 1910 (sic - 1911) she married Albert L. CANTERBURY and they moved into the home on South Fifth Street where she lived until going into the nursing home. She was a member of the Lutheran Church. Mr. CANTERBURY passed away June 27, 1947.
She had three stepsons, all deceased. Surviving is a niece, Mrs. Hattie FRANKS and one nephew Al LESLIE both of Aconomowoc (sic - Oconomowoc), Wis. Nineteen step grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren also survive. Besides her husbands and stepsons, she was preceded by three sisters and five brothers.
