MRS. E. J. M'COY DIED IN CALIFORNIA

Mrs. William C. BALL received word Sunday of the death of her mother Mrs. E. J. McCOY which occured (sic) Saturday evening at the home of another daughter Mrs. H. G. PEWTREN at Alameda, California. Mrs. McCOY was nearly ninty (sic) years of age and had been ill only a few days when her death came suddenly.

Mrs. McCOY was one of the pioneer residents of Fairfield, having come here in 1856. She resided here until about six years ago when she went west, hoping to benefit her failing health.

She is survived by two sons, Robert W. CAMPBELL of Los Angeles, California, and Frank CAMPBELL of Central City, Neb., and three daughters Mrs. H. G. PEWTREN of Alamenda (sic), California, Miss Anna CAMPBELL of Ohio, and Mrs. William BALL of this city.

The remains will be brought to this city for interrment and will arrive Thursday morning at 9:30 on the Rock Island railroad. They will be taken immediately to the BALL home on North B street and the funeral will be held at four o'clock Thursday afternoon.

Mrs. McCOY was well known and greatly admired by a large circle of friends here who will sincerely regret her death. A number of relatives and friends from a distance are expected to arrive for the funeral. Mrs. McCOY had been a member of the First Presbyterian church since coming to Fairfield.

Mrs. W. C. BALL received a message Sunday announcing the death of her mother, Mrs. E. J. McCOY, which occurred Saturday, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. H. G. PEWTREN, at Alameda, Calif.

Mrs. McCOY came to Fairfield in 1856 and went west about six years ago hoping to benefit her health. At the time of her death she had almost reached the age of ninety years.

She is survived by two sons, Robert W. CAMPBELL, of Los Angeles, California, and Frank CAMPBELL, of Central City, Nebr., and three daughters, Mrs. H. G. PEWTREN, of Alameda, Calif., Miss Anna CAMPBELL, of Ohio, and Mrs. William BALL of this city.

The remains are expected to arrive Thursday morning at 9:30 o'clock on the Rock Island road, and will be taken to the W. C. BALL home on North B street. The funeral will be held in the afternoon at four o'clock and interment will be in the evergreen cemetery.

Mrs. William BALL received word of the death of her mother, Mrs. E. J. McCOY, which occurred Saturday at Alameda, Cal. The body was brought to this city, arriving this morning, and funeral services were held at the BALL home this afternoon. Mrs. McCOY was about ninety years of age and was a resident of Fairfield for a number of years. She is survived by two sons and three daughters.

Note: Buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield, IA, in Lot Old.P.128. Eliza J. TEMPLETON was born February 21, 1823, and was first married to John J. CAMPBELL who died in 1870. She was subsequently married to W. C. McCOY, and was buried with first husband John.
