DIED AT AGE OF 88 YEARS

Mrs. Elizabeth CAMPBELL died last evening at 5:30 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. E. THOMPSON on East Burlington street after a two weeks' illness of a complication of diseases. Mrs. CAMPBELL arrived in this city only a few days prior to her last illness and intended to spend the winter with her daughter.

Elizabeth MOORE CAMPBELL was born in Alleghany county, Pa., November 1, 1822. In March 1841 she was married to Edward CAMPBELL, Jr., and they spent the succeeding five years on a farm. In 1846 they moved to Pittsburg and in 1865 came to Iowa, settling on a farm in Cedar township in eJfferson (sic) county. They resided there until 1879 when they moved to Fairfield, where both spent their last days.

Mr. CAMPBELL died about ten years years ago (sic) and at that time was one of the best known men in southeastern Iowa ,having been an active Democrat and served his party in different public offices. At his death Mrs. CAMPBELL left this city and has made made (sic) her home for the most of the time in Muskegon, Michigan.

Eight children were born to Mr. and Mrs. CAMPBELL, four sons and four daughters. Three sons and two daughters have preceded the mother in death. Three children are surviving, all of whom are here. They are Mrs. Samuel FARMER of Muskegon, Mich., John M. CAMPBELL of Chicago and Mrs. W. E. THOMPSON of this city.

The funeral services will be held Monday morning at 10:30 o'clock at the THOMPSON home and the remains will be laid to rest in Evergreen cemetery.

Mrs. Edward CAMPBELL

was born in Pennsylvanio (sic) Nov. 1, 1822. In 1841 she was united in marriage to Edward CAMPBELL Jr. and in 1865 they came to Jefferson County, settling on a farm in Cedar township. In 1879 they moved to this city where Mr. CAMPBELL died about ten years ago Since his death Mrs. CAMPBELL had spent most of her time with her daughter in Muskegon, Mich. Mrs. CAMPBELL came to this city about three weeks ago to visit her daughter, Mrs. W. E. THOMPSON, but soon after her arrival she was taken ill with pneumonia which resulted in her death Friday evening. Eight children were born to Mr. and Mrs. CAMPBELL, only three of whom survive. They are: John CAMPBELL of Chicago, Mrs. Samuel FARMER of Muskegon, Mich., and Mrs. W. E. THOMPSON of this city. Funeral services were held at the THOMPSON home Monday morning and interment made in Evergreen cemetery.
