J. M. CALHOUN PASSES AWAY
Had Suffered For A Month With Blood Poisoning--Funeral Thursday at 4

J. M. (Dick) CALHOUN passed away this morning at 2:45 oclock at the Jefferson county hospital where he had been a patient for the past month suffering from blood poisoning.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 4 oclock from the home, 105 West Jefferson street in charge of Rev. R. H. Polly, pastor of the Christian church. Interment will be made in Evergreen cemetery,.

Mr. CALHOUN was born in Van Buren county, September 19, 1857 and was married to Emma McWHIRTER on October 25, 1881 and they have lied all their life in Jefferson county, their home being on a farm two miles south of the city until eight years ago when they retired and moved to town. Besides the wife Mr. CALHOUN is survived by the following children: Mrs. Harvey ERICKSON, J. N. CALHOUN of this city and Mrs. Mabel GILBERT of Battle Creek, Mich., who will arrive tomorrow. Also the following sisters and brothers, Mrs Frank BALL of this city, Mrs. Fred JAMISON of Knox, Mo., Scott CALHOUN of Compton, Calif., and a half brother John SENSE of Enid Okla. His aged mother, Mrs. Lewis SENSE is living at Knox, Mo. but will be unable to come on account of her feeble condition.

CALHOUN RITES HELD YESTERDAY
Services Were At 4 O'clock From the Home In Charge Of Rev Polly

Funeral services for J. M. CALHOUN, who passed away, Tuesday morning following a month's illness with blood poisoning, were held yesterday afternoon at 4 oclock from the home, 105 West Jefferson street in charge of Rev. R. H. Polly, pastor of the Christian church. The men who served as pall bearers were: Paul Hassler, D. W. Caldwell, Harold Hiatt, Perry Bates, George Bonnett and George Workman. Gus V. Scott sang the following numbers, "No Night There," "Home of the Soul," and "Jesus Blessed Jesus." Interment was made in Evergreen cemetery.

--Out of town relatives here yesterday to attend the funeral of J. M. CALHOUN were John and Albert SENSE of Edina, Mo., Mr. and Mrs. Jess DAVIDSON of Knox City, Mo., Mrs. George ALLEN and Will ALLEN of Ottumwa.

OBITUARY

Jerry M. CALHOUN

Jerry Manford CALHOUN, son of Malura JAMISON and Noble CALHOUN, was born September 19, 1857, near Winchester, in Van Buren county, Iowa, and departed this life on June 7, 1927, after an illness of a month.

On October 25, 1881, he was married to Miss Emma McWHIRTER. Besides his widow he is survived by the following children: Mrs. Harvey C. ERICKSON, J. Nobie CALHOUN of this city, Mrs. Mabel GILBERT, of Battle Creek, Mich., and three grandchildren, Dorothy and Martha CALHOUN and Preston GILBERT. He also leaves his mother, Mrs. Lewis SENSE, of Knox City, Mo., who is 93 years of age, and the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. Frank P. BALL, of this city, Fred JAMISON of Knox City, Mo., Scott CALHOUN, Compton, Calif., and a half-brother, John SENSE, and two step-brothers, Albert and Peter SENSE of Edina, Mo.

Funeral services were held from the home, Thursday afternoon at 4 o'clock in charge of his pastor, Rev. R. H. Polly of the Christian church of which Mr. CALHOUN was a faithful member. Gus V. Scott sang "No Night There," "Home of the Soul," and "Jesus Blessed Jesus." Interment was made in Evergreen cemetery.

To All Whom It May Concern:

Notice is hereby given that an instrument, purporting to be the last Will and Testament of J. M. CALHOUN, deceased, is now on file in the office of the clerk of the district court of Jefferson county, and that Monday, July 11th, A. D., 1927 at 2 oclock p.m. has been set for proof and final hearing of same.

Witness my hand and the seal of said court this 14th day of June, 1927.
