OBITUARY

Charles CALHOUN

Little Charles Henry, eleven years old son of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard CALHOUN, passed to his eternal rest November 7, 1922 at 4:00 oclock in the morning.

He had bee ill but a short time, having undergone a very serious operation at the Jefferson County Hospital for mastoid glands. For two weeks he suffered intensely but ever patient and hopeful that he would soon be able to go home. It was thought by the medical attendants and nurses that he was improving, but death who is no respecter of persons, had laid its fangs upon him and ere the sun rose, heralding the approach of a new day little Charlie's spirit had taken flight to its Heavenly home.

He was born in Missouri, September 18, 1911 but the greater part of his life had been spent in Jefferson county.

He attended the Beckwith school here for the past two years and his little playmates today are mourning their loss.

The family moved last spring near Brighton but there will be a vacant chair in the school room and in the home as his death is the first break in the link of a happy family circle. But why should they mour (sic) for he is at rest.

Besides his parents he also leaves the following brothers and sisters, Noble, Chester, Mabel, Leonard and Clyde, who have the consoling thought that their loved one has escaped the sorrows of this life and has gone to swell the number of those of whom the Saviour has said "Of such is the Kingdom of Heaven."

The last sad rites were held at the Methodist church Thursday afternoon at 2:00, and he was tenderly laid to rest in the beautiful Evergreen cemetery amid a bed of flowers. Sympathy is extended to the bereaved ones.

(Signed) A FRIEND.
