Funeral Services Will Be Held Tomorrow Afternoon At Methodist ChurchMrs. N. J. CALHOUN, who resided 6 miles northwest of Fairfield, passed away yesterday morning at the Jefferson county hospital, death coming suddenly as the result of a blood clot. She successfully underwent an operation two weeks ago and was recovering nicely. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 oclock at the first Methodist church conducted by Dr. U. S. Smith. Interment will be in Evergreen cemetery.
Besides her husband and one daughter, Esther, she is survived by the following brothers and sisters: Roy and Ernest McPHERSON of Colorado Springs, Floy of Goodland, Kans., Willard of Cedar Rapids, Miss Velma McPHERSON of Burlington and Miss Mabel McPHERSON of Veo.
Mrs. CALHOUN was 42 years of age, was born in Nebraska and has lived in Jefferson county the past eleven years. Previous to coming here, the family resided in Van Buren county.

Held Yesterday Afternoon At Methodist Church; Interment EvergreenFuneral servics for Mrs. N. J. CALHOUN were held from the First Methodist church yesterday afternoon conducted by Dr. U. S. Smith with interment in Evergreen cemetery.
The pall bearers were Frank Swan, Elmer Ramsay, James Clarke, Blaine Emry, William Summers, and Wade Flinspach. "Crossing the Bar" and "God Is Love" were sung by the Williams Brothers quartet of Birmingham.
Relatives from a distance here for the funeral were: John CALHOUN of Iowa City, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. CALHOUN of Keosauqua, Dr. Jay CALHOUN of Eldon, Mr. and Mrs. O. S. CALHOUN and son Herbert and Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Williams and daughters of Birmingham, Mr. and Mrs. Craig Miller of Keosauqua, Mr. and Mrs. Willard McPHERSON and children of Cedar Rapids, Miss Velma McPHERSON of Burlington.

Mrs. N. J. CALHOUN
Amy McPHERSON was born January 26, 1886 and died May 6, 1928, being at the time of her decease 42 years, 3 months and 10 days old.
She was born in the State of Nebraska and with the family moved to Iowa and located at Winchester where on December 18, 1907, she was united in marriage with N. J. CALHOUN. To this union two children were born-- Mary Louise died in infancy, and Esther Mildred who with her father survive the mother.
Her immediate family consisted of the following sisters and brothers: Roy and Ernest of Colorado, Floyd of Kansas, Mabel of Veo, Velma of Burlington and Willard of Cedar Rapids; also Alta and Lou deceased.
Mrs. CALHOUN was an active member of the Methodist church in Fairfield where she and her husband have been affiliated for several years. She was a member of the Wesleyan class of the Sunday school, of the Parent Teachers association and of the Busy Bee club.
Her passing was very unexpected. While she was in the Jefferson County hospital, yet her case was very satisfactory and all were very hopeful of a speedy and complete recovery. On Sunday morning there developed serious conditions and before any one could realize the degree of the relapse the end came.
Mrs. CALHOUN was a devoted wife, a loving mother and a loyal friend. Her life was full of loving service for others whom she loved to entertain in her own home and with whom she loved to mingle in social gatherings.
