Front Page, Column 5BELIEVE BUCHER ROBBED, KILLED
Body Here Today Was Found in River With Wound in HeadRelatives here of Peter BUCHER, whose body was found in the Iowa river at Iowa City Thursday, believe that he was slugged and robbed and then thrown into the river. Mr. BUCHER's home was at Oxford, Iowa and he left there Monday morning with a roll of bills, some silver and his watch to go to Iowa City. He was last seen in iowa City at 2:15 oclock Thursday and at 4 oclock his body was taken from the river. A large gash on the back of his head behind his ear made it very evident that he had been slugged.
He was born in Marbach, Switzerland and came to this country in 1881. He has spent the greatest part of his life in the northwest part of Henry county and for the past twenty years has lived in Oxford. During the past year he has been custodian of the cemetery there. During the winter he usually stayed at the home of his brother, Herman, east of Fairfield.
Mr. BUCHER was unmarried and leaves two brothers, Herman of Fairfield and Joseph of Libertyville. He also has one sister and two brothers in Marbach, Switzerland.
His body arrived in the city this afternoon and was taken to the home of his brother, Herman, east of Farifield. Funeral services will be held Monday morning at nine oclock from St. Mary's Catholic church in charge of Rev. E. F. Gaul (sic - Gaule). Interment will be in Evergreen cemetery.
