Marjorie Virginia Bender, 86, of Park View, Iowa, died Wednesday, June 1, 2005, at Genesist Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport, after a brief illness.

The funeral and a Tridentine Requiem Mass is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at All Faith Chapel at Hallgan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home in Davenport. Burial and graveside service will be in Davenport Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. A family led rosary will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials or masses may be made to Humility of Mary Church, 342 SE Broad St., Des Moines 50315.

Mrs. Bender was born May 27, 1919, in Birmingham, the daughter of John C. and Virginia Droz Campbell. She married Harold R. Bender Feb. 4, 1939, in Fairfield. He died April 8, 1978.

She was a cashier for Geifman and A&P Food Stores prior to serving as an officer and president for more than 20 years of Local 1470, United Food and Commercial Workers. She retired in 1984.

She gardened and played cards.

Survivors include four daughters, Carolyn Pfannenstiel and husband Donald of Davenport, Patricia Ann Bender, Rosalie Thede and husband Ronald, and Marjorie K. Bender, all of Park View; seven grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Ronald Campbell.
