June 01, 2005Letha R. Simmons, 94, of Fairfield, died at 2:50 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2005, at Jefferson County Hospital.
The funeral is scheduled at 10 a.m. Saturday at Raymond Funeral Home, with the Rev. Richard Wallarab officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to a charity of the donor's choice.
Mrs. Simmons was born April 7, 1911, in Jefferson County, near Veo, the daughter of Harlan and Eva Hadley Roberts. She married Karl Kenneth Simmons June 12, 1932, in Fairfield. He died April 7, 1986.
She lived most of her life on the family farm in Penn Township. She and her husband moved into Fairfield in 1981.
She attended Parsons College and Northeast Missouri State Teachers' College at Kirksville.
She taught in one-room rural schools and was a substitute teacher in the Fairfield public schools until she was in her 70s.
Survivors include one son, Kennth R. Simmons and wife Joyce of Fairfield.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Loren Roberts; and one sister, Faye Kermeen.
