Ruby Swift
May 31, 2005Ruby Swift, 89, of Hillsboro died at 10:09 p.m. Thursday, May 26, 2005, at the Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.
The funeral was at 10:30 a.m. today at Salem Friends Church, with the Rev. Tom Palmer officiating. Burial was in Bales Cemetery near Hillsboro.
A memorial has been established to the Houghton First Responders or the Donnellson First Responders.
The Hofbauer-Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Farmington was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Swift was born July 30, 1915, at Revere, Mo., the daughter of Freeman and Anna LeMaster Moss. She married Virgil Swift Sr. March 10, 1936, in Hannibal, Mo. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Swift was a member of the former Big Mound Methodist Church.
Survivors include six sons, Roger Swift and wife Freda of Cary, Ill., David Swift of Hillsboro, Robert Swift of Hillsboro, Dennis Swift of Salem, Virgil Swift Jr. of Hillsboro and Terry Swift and wife Sarah of Salem; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.
