Victor C. Kurka, 90, of 500 Centennial Drive, East Peoria, Ill., formerly of Fairfield, died at 2:10 a.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2005, at ManorCare at Riverview in East Peoria.

The funeral mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Morton, Ill., with the Rev. Mark DeSutter officiating.

A graveside service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday at Memorial Lawn Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to his great-grandson's education fund by mailing 1102 S. Fourth St., Fairfield 52256.

Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home in Morton is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Kurka was born March 15, 1915, in Fairfield, the son of Stephen and Agnes Supalla Kurka. He married Catherine O'Brien May 16, 1944, in Kossuth County. She died April 22, 2002.

He was a World War II Army veteran.

Mr. Kurka worked for Iowa Malleable Iron Company in Fairfield for 45 years. He retired in 1978 as a foreman in the shipping department.

He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Morton. He was a former member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Fairfield.

He was a 68-year member of the Elks Lodge in Fairfield.

Survivors include two sons, Michael P. Kurka and wife Mary of Morton and William J. Kurka and wife Catherine of Mesa, Ariz.; one daughter, Marcy C. Kurka of Chandler, Ariz.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers; and five sisters.
