LIBERTYVILLE MAN SUICIDE
Ezra Owen BROBSTON found dead of gun wound

Ezra Owen BROBSTON, 57, of Libertyville took his own life Monday noon by discharging a 12-gauge shotgun in his mouth, according to Jefferson county coroner Jack Raymond. Reason for his action was believed to have been ill health. No inquest was requested or found necessary.

Mr. BROBSTON had gone to the home of Mrs. Paul ROBERTSON, a daughter (sic - sister) who resides about one mile northeast of Libertyville, Monday morning. He said he was sick. His sister drove to Fairfield to get him some medicine, he had been under medical care since August. Mr. ROBERTSON was working about the farm and while alone in the house Mr. BROBSTON found the shotgun, placed it in his mouth and pulled the trigger with a stick.

The shot was not heard by ROBERTSON who found the body shortly afterwards. The coroner was called at once, as was Sheriff Herbert Goodale. No report of the fact was made by the coroner, although it happened in the early afternoon.

The body was removed to the Hoskins funeral home where funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Mr. BROBSTON was born in Iowa on May 6, 1884. He is survived by three sons, Howard of Kilbourne, Theodore and Claude of Libertyville; two brothers, Clint of Kansas and Iliff of Birmingham; three sisters, Miss Winnie BROBSTON of Chicago, Miss Ethel BROBSTON of Geneva, Ill., and Mrs. ROBERTSON of Libertyville.
