Mrs. Sarah BRIGHTON, wife of H. M. BRIGHTON, died in this city Monday evening about 7 o'clock. December 30th she returned with her husband from a three months' visit with friends in the east, and at that time was suffering with a severe cold. Her ailment appeared to concentrate in her head, and finally caused inflammation of the brain, which resulted fatally. Mrs. BRIGHTON was born in Marietta, Pann., in December, 1824, grew to womanhood in that vicinity, and was married to Mr. BRIGHTON in 1848. Six children were born to them, four of whom are now living--H. H. in this city, S. J. at Columbia, Penn., A. L. at Burlington, and Mrs. J. W. FRUSH at Mankato, Kan. The family removed to Iowa in September, 1864, and resided in Buchanan township, this county, from that time until last spring, when removal was made to this city.-- Deceased was for many years a member of the Methodist Episcopal church, but some years ago joined the Church in God, in the membership of which she died. She was a kind mother, an affectionate wife and an excellent neighbor. Her funeral will occur from the Methodist church, this city, Friday afternoon, at 2 o'clock.

Page 3, Column 3Death of Mrs. H. M. BRIGHTON.--The death at six o'clock Monday evening of Mrs. H. M. BRIGHTON, of this city, was a great surprise to the numerous acquaintances of the family. It was scarcely known by her friends that she was even sick. Death resulted from an acute inflammation of the brain. Two weeks ago Wednesday she returned from a somewhat extended trip with her husband visiting relatives and friends in the east. She had a severe cold upon her return, but careful attention was given to it and it was hoped she would soon be well. Instead, however, she gradually became worse. It began to affect her head and in a few days there was a discharge indicating that an internal swelling had broken. The family becoming alarmed, physicians were summoned and everything done that loving friends could suggest or hands could do; but it was of no avail, the final summons had come, and at six o'clock Monday evening her spirit fled away.
Mrs. BRIGHTON's maiden name was Sarah HUBLEY, and she was born in Marietta, Lancaster county, Penna., in 1824. She was married in 1847 to H. M. BRIGHTON, and three years later with her husband removed to Mansfield, Ohio. In 1864 the family came to this county and lived in Buchanan township until 1886 when they moved to Fairfield. Mrs. BRIGHTON was the mother of six children, two of whom, both sons, are dead. The living ones in the order of their ages, are Samuel, married, and living in Columbia, Penna.; Henry, of the firm of Brighton & Jaques, this city; Ella, wife of Jno. FRUSH, Mankato, Kansas; and Lincoln, living in Burlington.
The deceased was an earnest and sincere Christian, having in early life and before her marriage united with the Methodist church. She was a most exemplary woman, full of unselfish love of a devoted wife and mother, and loved by her family, as all such wives and mothers are, with an affection that bordered on devotion. To these her loss is irreparable.
The funeral will occur at two o'clock Friday afternoon, it having been fixed at that time to permit all the children to be present.
