Death of H. M. BRIGHTON.

H. M. BRIGHTON died in this city Sunday at noon, after an illness of ten weeks from an affection of the stomach. His remains were interred in the Evergreen cemetery yesterday morning, Rev. I. O. Kemble having charge of the funeral services. Mr. BRIGHTON was born at Marietta, Penn., May 16th, 1826. He attained his majority there and was married to Miss Sarah HUBLEY, who died in this city January 10th, 1887. There were six children born to them, four of whom survive the parents--Senator Henry H. BRIGHTON of this city, Samuel J. BRIGHTON and Mrs. John H. FRUSH, who reside in Buchanan township, and A. L. BRIGHTON of Chicago. The family removed to Ohio in 1850, and in 1864 came to Jefferson county. April 4th, 1900, he was married to Mrs. Margaret A. SHEPHERD, who survives him. Mr. BRIGHTON lived for many years on a farm in Buchanan township, but for perhaps fifteen years past his home had been in this city. Until failing health compelled him to cease active labor, he was a very industrious and energetic man and was generally successful in his undertakings. He had been a member of the Church of God since early manhood and lived strictly in accordance with its teachings in his intercourse with his fellow men. In his protracted illness he has had the sympathy of many old friends and neighbors, and they will join the family in mourning his loss.
