OBITUARY.

Hannah QUICK, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John QUICK, was born in Jefferson county, Iowa, December 2d, 1873, and all her life was spent in the neighborhood where she was born. She was married to Albert BRIER, September, 1891. Two children--Vera, aged four years, and Leslie, aged three years--were born to them. She was a member of the German Lutheran church since childhood. She was stricken with consumption about seven months ago, and was bright and cheerful in her affliction. She died Friday night, February 19th, at 11 o'clock, and passed to her reward peacefully and calmly. She was a warm friend and a pleasant companion, and her loss is deeply mourned by those who knew her best. The remains were taken from her late home in the southeast part of the city to the M. E. church, where services were conducted by Rev. J. A. Boatman, and from thence taken to the Evergreen cemetery and interred.

Resolutions of Sympathy.

The following resolutions of respect were adopted by a unanimous vote of Fairfield Lodge, No. 629, I. O. O. F., at its recent meeting :

"As the leaves fall thick and lie upon the ground," so are our hearts made heavy by affliction. Our hearts are made sad when a loving mother is taken by death from the embrace of her children and companion. Today a brother is left to travel the remainder of life alone and his home is left destitute of a mother. As members of Fairfield Lodge, No. 629, I. O. O. F., we sympathize with Brother Albert J. BRIER in the death of his wife, and, while we feel the affliction deeply, we sorrow not as those who have no hope. May the blessings of God sustain the bereft husband and children in their greatest sorrow.

Resolved, That these resolutions be spread upon the minutes and a copy be sent to the family.

Perry King,
F. D. Kerrick,
C. E. Ward,
Committee.

Attest: Jno. H. Merckens, Secy.

"As the leaves fall thick and lie upon the ground," so are our souls made heavy by affliction.
