Note: Buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield, IA, in Lot SDof01-010. Various dates are found with respect to his birth: 1855 in his obituaries, 1870 on his gravestone, and 1868 in the WPA graves survey. Given his age in the census returns, he was born in 1866, being aged 3 in the 1870, 13 in the 1880, and 43 in the 1910. He and Mable married on 4 Sep 1901, and he was noted as 31 at the time (32 next birthday), probably mis-stated to cushion the 13-year difference between him and Mable. Their first daughter, Margaret, was born in 1904.
