OBITUARY

WILLIAM H. BREWINGTON

William H. BREWINGTON, a long time resident of Fairfield, passed away at the home of his niece, Mrs. Agnes BALLINGER, in Oskaloosa, Iowa on Thursday April 8, where he had resided for about one year.

William Henry BREWINGTON was born in Keosauqua on January 16, 1852, the son of Thomas and Margaret BREWINGTON, in which community he grew to manhood.

Mr. BREWINGTON was united in marriage to Miss Martha GRAY on May 27, 1884. To this union was born two children, Bessie, who was born in September, 1886 and Oney on August 9, 1889, both children were born during his residence in Keosauqua, and both of them preceded him in death. Oney passed away in 1890 and Bessie in 1913.

Brother BREWINGTON was converted and accepted Christ as his Saviour on January 19, 1877, uniting with the Methodist Episcopal church in Keosauqua, but since coming to Fairfield, changed his membership to the First Baptist church in Fairfield, of which he remained a faithful member until his death.

He came to Fairfield with his brother Charles and family in 1907 and remained a member of that family until their death.

Two of B rother (sic) BREWINGTON's chief characteristics were faithfulness and loyalty. He was ever loyal and faithful in the Master's work in the Sunday school and church of his choice, as well as in inter-denominational work, always giving a vital and living testimony to the saving and keeping power of his Saviour.

He was most loyal to the members of his family, always endeavoring to lead them into a konwledge (sic) of his Saviour and was faithful to their interests.

To his friends he was ever a friend whose loyalty won the love and respect of all who knew him. Ever willing to aid, he was often a visitor in the homes where there was sickness, cheering and encouraging those who were upon beds of affliction.

Mr. BREWINGTON's parents, two brothers, Charles and Lee and one sister, Mrs. Mary DREW, as well as his two daughters and other relatives have preceded him in death.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Hoskins Funeral Home and his body was laid to rest in the Evergreen cemetery,, Fairfield, Ia.
