A WELL KNOWN RESIDENT DEAD
Mrs. John BOWERMASTER Had Been Ill for three Years; Funeral Tomorrow

Mrs. John E. BOWERMASTER passed away Saturday afternoon at 4 oclock at her home 609 West Jefferson street after an illness of 3 years. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 oclock from the Methodist church in charge of Rev. H. E. Butler, assisted by Rev. Scoles. Interment was made in Evergreen cemetery.

Mrs. BOWERMASTER was born near Richland, May 30, 1855. Besides her husband she is survived by one daughter, Mrs. R. T. STEWART of Milwaukee and one adopted daughter, Mrs. Preston WELLS of this city. There are also the following step-sons, Bert, Claude, Fred and Charles BOWERMASTER of this city and Earl BOWERMASTER of Rock Island.

The Rebekahs will have charge of the services at the grave.

FUNERAL RITES HELD YESTERDAY
Mrs. John BOWERMASTER Buried at Evergreen; Services By Rev. Butler

Funeral services for Mrs. John BOWERMASTER, who passed away Saturday afternoon at her home, 609 West Briggs street, were held yesterday afternoon at 2:30 oclock from the First Methodist church in charge of Rev. H. E. Butler, assisted by Dr. H. B. Scoles. Mrs. Frank Pierson and Mrs. Ben F Leathers sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "No Night There."

The following men served as pallbearers: Frank COOPER, Gilbert McClaren, Wilbur Dole, Carl Griffith, John Wygandt and Orville Hankins. The flower offerings were profuse and beautiful. Interment was made in Evergreen cemetery.

OBITUARY

Mrs. John BOWERMASTER

Mary HIATT, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. C. HIATT was born near Richland in Jefferson county, Iowa, March 30, 1855 and departed this life at her home in Fairfield, Iowa, April 2, 1927, at the age of 72 years and two days.

She had been an invalid for the last three years and had been confined to her bed for the last eight weeks. She was united in marriage to Andrew JONES in 1889 and in 1890 he died, leaving a daughter, Mrs. Bessie STEWART, who was but six week old at the time of his death.

October 12, 1893, she and J. E. BOWERMASTER were united in marriage and resided in Fairfield. Mrs. BOWERMASTER in early life was a members of the Friends church but transferred her membership to the Methodist Episcopal church at Fairfield. She was a member of the Rebekah lodge No. 96 at Fairfield.

She leaves to mourn her departure her husband, her daughter Mrs. Bessie STEWART, an adopted daughter Mrs. Pauline WELLS of Fairfield, 14 grandchildren, five step-children, Bert, Claude, Fred and Charles BOWERMASTER of Fairfield and Earl of Rock Island, Ill. One of the step-children, Mrs. Maud SCHLIEF died in 1903. She also leaves a host of friends and sister Rebekahs to mourn her departure.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. April 5, in the First Methodist Episcopal church Fairfield, conducted by Rev. Harvey E. Butler and Rev. H. B. Scoles. The services at the grave were conducted by the Rebekah lodge.
