JOHN HENRY BOOS

John Henry BOOS, son of John and Louisa Kathryn BOOS was born near Four Corners, Jefferson County, Iowa on September 18, 1867 and passed to his eternal reward December 26, 1941 at the age of 74 years, 3 months and 8 days.

Death came quite unexpectedly although he had been in failing health for some time.

He was baptized November 24, 1867 and confirmed in the Germanville Lutheran church April 2, 1882, his membership being placed in the Four Corners Lutheran church of the Iowa Synod.

He transferred his membership to Trinity Lutheran church of Lockridge when it was founded in 1913, being one of the charter members of this organization.

On November 1, 1900 he was united in marriage to Louisa C. GRAF who passed away in less than a year after their marriage. Also an infant son passed away when only four days old.

On September 16, 1915, he was united in marriage to Miss Mollie SMITH in Fairfield. They lived in Lockridge, maintaining a very happy Christian home.

During 1931 a mental affliction struck him from which he never recovered, although at times he seemed quite normal. For more than ten years he had been a patient at the Mt. Pleasant State Hospital and other institutions for mental illness.

He is survived by his devoted wife who is now a resident of Fairfield; three sisters, Miss Mary BOOS and Mrs. Anna KELTNER of Fairfield and Mrs. Louise RUPP of Lockridge; and one brother, Lewis E. of Lockridge; also seven nephews and one niece and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon, December 28 in Trinity Lutheran church in Lockridge with Rev. Edward A. Piper in charge, assisted by Student Pastor, Mr. Oscar Rolander of the Lockridge church.

Burial was in Evergreen cemetery in Fairfield.

Singers at the services were Mrs. Tony Carlson, Mrs. R. R. Berg, Roy Linn and Student Pastor Oscar Rolander, with Mrs. Everett Bogner at the piano.
