Page 3, Column 5Death of Willard BLEAKMORE.
Among the deaths of the year in this vicinity few will be sadder than that of Willard R. BLEAKMORE. He was a young man who, although a native of West Virginia, had spent nearly all the days of his earlier life in this city, coming here with the family when a mere child and residing here continuously until he had reached manhood's years.-- For a number of years past, although engaged in his labors elsewhere, he still called Fairfield his home and made at least annual visits to it. About two years ago, while in Hartford, Conn., he attacked by a disease of the brain (sic), and on coming home about a year ago he had not regained his health. Although placed under the care of competent physicians and given careful attention he steadily grew worse, and it was finally decided to send him to the Mt. Pleasant hospital for treatment, whither he was taken Saturday afternoon. He made no remonstrance against going, had a good night's rest and ate a hearty breakfast, but about 9 o'clock Sunday morning was stricken with an apoplectic fit of some kind and died in a few moments.-- The remains were brought to this city the same evening. Mr. BLEAKMORE was 33 years old. He was a printer by trade, a careful, competent workman, and he had held situations in many of the largest establishments of the land.-- He was a bright, cheerful fellow, generous to a fault, a favorite with his companions, and a kind friend. The writer knew him and his good qualities of head and heart well, and with many another friend will mourn his loss. The funeral occurred from the residence of his parents on First North street this morning.
