Donald BLAIN rites Friday

Donald F. BLAIN, 65, Route 1, died at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday of a heart attack at his home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. William Sullivan officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Prayers for a Christian wake will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Raymond Funeral Home. A memorial has been established to Mass stipends.

BLAIN was born Oct. 22, 1920 at What Cheer, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leland BLAIN. He grew up in What Cheer and had been a resident of Fairfield since 1972. He married Phyllis EMNKE (sic - MENKE) in Fairfield in 1972. She survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Theresa, at home; three sons, Mark, at home, Jerry of Newton, Joe of Fairfield; and two grandchildren. His parents and a daughter preceded him in death.

BLAIN had worked at Amana Refrigeration for several years and had been a farm laborer. He was employed for nine years as a custodian in the Fairfield school system, seven of those at Pleasant Plain. He retired in 1983. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and Eagles Lodge (sic - Aerie/Club).

Donald F. BLAIN married Phyllis MENKE in 1972. The name appeared as EMNKE in BLAIN's obituary in Wednesday's Ledger.
