T. A. WHITAKER To Attend Rites

T. A. WHITAKER, 85, rural route 1, left this morning to attend the funeral services of his sister, Mrs. Margaret BLACK, who died at Eugene, Oregon. He left by plane from Ottumwa.

Mrs. Margaret WHITAKER BLACK, a former resident of this community, was born Feb. 29, 1872, in Fairfield, the daughter of William W. and Sarah LAUGHLIN WHITAKER.

She attended elementary school at Cross Lanes west of Fairfield and graduated from the Fairfield Academy in 1890. After teaching school for a few years she was married to John BLACK on May 16, 1895. They were the parents of one son who died at the age of six.

Mrs. BLACK is survived by three brothers and a sister, Ben F. WHITAKER, Luck, Wis.; John T. WHITAKER, Tracy, Calif.; T. A. WHITAKER, Fairfield; and Mrs. Jessie DONOVAN, Eugene, Ore., with whom she had made her home for the past 10 years.

En route home, T. A. WHITAKER will visit his son at Burbank, Calif.

Note: Buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield, IA, in Lot Old.P.059 with husband John who died in 1933. The son they lost was Frederick 'Freddie', who was 2 years and 8 months old.
