Suffered a Stroke Monday Evening. Funeral Arrangements Awaiting RelativesMrs. B. F. BLACK, who was stricken with apoplexy Monday evening at her home, 1005 West Burlington street, passed away this morning at 10:30 after being critically ill since the stroke.
The funeral arrangements are pending the arrival of relatives at a distance.
Mrs. BLACK was 74 years of age and has resided in this city for many years.
Besides the husband she is survived by the following children: Mrs. Bessie HOLLISTER of this city, Mrs. H. A. FALK of Sauk Center, Minn., Miss Jessie BLACK of Douglas, Ariz., Eugene BLACK, of Montclair, N. J., Mrs. J. F. THOMASON of Burlington and Mrs. Arthur LaGRANGE of Vinton. A daughter Mrs. Ralph STEVER, preceded her in death 2 years ago.
Eugene will arrive tonight for the funeral. Jessie will be unable to come because of a recent operation.

MRS. B. F. BLACK
Jeanette WITHERSPOON BLACK youngest daughter of James and Elizabeth WITHERSPOON, was born in Glasgow, Scotland, September 15, 1884 (sic - 1854), and departed this life at her home in Fairfield, Iowa, April 12 1929.
She came to Pennsylvania with her parents when three years old. At Pittsburg on October 15, 1887 she was united in marriage to B. F. BLACK. Came to Iowa in 1879 and settled near Fairfield. Seven children were born to them. One daughter Mrs. Margaret STEVER preceded her in death April 9, 1927. Besides her husband she is survived by the following children: Bessie HOLLISTER, Fairfield, Mrs. J. A. FALK, Sauk Center, Minn., Jessie BLACK Douglas Arizona, P. E. BLACK, Montclaire, N. J., Mrs. J. E. THOMASON, Burlington, Iowa, and Mrs. Arthur LA GRANGE, Vinton. She is also survived by three brothers and two sisters, all residing in Pennsylvania and several grandchildren.
At the age of twelve she united with the Christian church at Braddock, Pa., under the ministry of the sainted George Darsie.
Funeral services were held from the home on West Burlington street, Sunday afternoon at 2:30 oclock in charge of her pastor Rev. R. H. Polly of the Christian church. Interment was made in the Evergreen cemetery.
