Mrs. Chester BENTZ

FAIRFIELD -- Mrs. Chester R. BENTZ, 1001 South Fourth street, died in University hospitals, Iowa City, Ja. 29 -- one week after her 58th birthday (note: in Johnson Co., IA).

Mrs. BENTZ had been in failing health for the last three years. The former Marian Lee ROBERTS, she was born at Kenesaw, Neb., on Jan. 22, 1896, the daughter of Dewey J. and Elizabeth CURRAN ROBERTS. On Sept. 8, 1920, she was married at Kenesaw to Chester R. BENTZ. They moved to Fairfield from Chariton on July 1, 1953.

Mrs. BENTZ was a member of First Methodist church and of the OES and DAR. She is survived by her husband and four sons: Chester R. BENTZ Jr., Winterset; Robert R. BENTZ, Orlando, Fla.; Richard D. BENTZ, Portales, N. Mex., and James BENTZ, at home.

Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Charles EBERLINE, Lincoln, Neb., and a grandson.

Last rites will be held at First Methodist church at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Dr. L. L. Weis will officiate, and burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

The body is at the Hoskins funeral home.

Mrs. C. BENTZ Is Taken by Death

Mrs. Chester R. BENTZ, 58, of Fairfield, formerly of Chariton, died at the University hospital in Iowa City at 2:40 a.m. Friday, Jan. 29. She had been in failing health for three years and seriously ill for three weeks.

The former Marion Lee ROBERTS, she was the daughter of Dewey J. and Elizabeth CURRAN ROBERTS and was born Jan. 22, 1896, at Kenesaw, Neb. She was married there Sept. 8, 1920, to Mr. BENTZ. They moved to Fairfield from Chariton in July, 1953. She was a member of the First Methodist church, the Eastern Star and the D.A.R.

Besides her husband she is survived by four sons, C. R. BENTZ, jr., of Winterset, Robert L. BENTZ of Orlando, Fla., Richard D. BENTZ of Portales, N. Mex., and James BENTZ, at home, one grandson and one sister, Mrs. Charles EBERLINE of Lincoln, Neb.

Funeral services were held at Fairfield Saturday at the Methodist church and burial was in Evergreen cemetery at Fairfield.
