Mrs. BELVILLE, 85, Taken By Death

Mrs. Mary Olive BELVILLE, 85, died Thursday morning in the Kennedy Nursing Home, South Main street, where she had been a resident for the past few months.

She was born Mary Olive COOP, the daughter of Lafayette and Cynthia COOP, in Jefferson county, Iowa, Nov. 15, 1869 (sic - Nov. 13th), and was married to John BELVILLE of Washington county on Nov. 20, 1892.

Her only child is Mr. Cecile Mary FERRELL of Mt. Pleasant, the wife of Prof. G. B. FERRELL of the Iowa Wesleyan faculty.

Mrs. BELVILLE is survived by two sisters: Mrs. Bertha FLINSPACH and Miss Myrtle COOP of Fairfield, and one brother-in-law, the Rev. D. V. THOMPSON, also of Fairfield.

Also surviving are two grandsons: Robert Belville FERRELL of Washington, Iowa, and John Woodring FERRELL of Charles City. There are five great-grandchildren surviving.

Mrs. BELVILLE was a member of First Methodist church of Mt. Pleasant.

The body of Mrs. BELVILLE is at the Weston Behner Funeral Home at Fairfield. At the time of going to press, the funeral arrangements were not complete.

The officiating ministers will be Dr. Ernest A. Mathews, associate minister of the First Methodist church, and Dr. J. Raymond Chadwick, president of Iowa Wesleyan college.

Mrs. J. B. BELVILLE

FAIRFIELD -- Mrs. John B. BELVILLE, 86-year-old native of Jefferson county, died in the Kennedy nursing home, at Mount Pleasant, at 4:45 a.m. Aug. 23. She had been at the nursing home for 18 months.

Olive COOP, daughter of Lafayette and Cynthia Jane SPENCER COOP, was born near Fairfield on Nov. 13, 1869, and was married to John B. BELVILLE on Nov. 20, 1892. The couple lived at Oelwein and Washington prior to BELVILLE's death, which took place on Jan. 9, 1928. After his death, Mrs. BELVILLE returned to Fairfield to make her home. She was a member of the Methodist church, the Rebekah lodge and the WRC.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Cecile B. FERRELL, Mount Pleasant, and two grandchildren.

Also surviving are two sisters, Myrtle COOP and Mrs. Gust FLINSPACH, both of Fairfield, and a brother-in-law, the Rev. David W. THOMPSON, also of Fairfield.

A brother and two sisters died previously.

The body is at the Weston Behner funeral home.

FAIRFIELD--Services for Mrs. John BELVILLE, 86, who died Thursday at the Kennedy nursing home, Mount Pleasant, will be held at First Methodist church at 10 a.m. Monday.

Dr. E. A. Mathews, associate pastor of First Methodist church of Mount Pleasant, and Dr. J. Raymond Chadwick, president of Iowa Wesleyan college, Mount Pleasant, will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

The body is at the Weston Behner funeral home, where the family will receive friends Sunday afternoon.

Mrs. Olive BELVILLE Dies in Mt. Pleasant

Mrs. Olive COOP BELVILLE of Fairfield, a former resident of Washington, died Thursday morning at a nursing home in Mt. Pleasant where she had been a patient for the past 18 months.

Mrs. BELVILLE lived all of her married life in Washington until the death of her husband, John BELVILLE, in 1928.

Mrs. BELVILLE was the grandmother of Charles B. FERRELL, vocal music instructor in Washington's schools. Other survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Cecile B. FERRELL of Mt. Pleasant; another grandson in Charles City; and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in the First Methodist Church at Fairfield. Burial will be in the Fairfield Evergreen Cemetery.

Services Held For Olive BELVILLE

Memorial services for Mrs. Olive COOP BELVILLE were conducted at the Fairfield Methodist church Monday, Aug. 27 at 10 a.m.

Dr. E. A. Mathews, associate pastor of First Methodist church, Mt. Pleasant, and Dr. J. Raymond Chadwick, present of Iowa Wesleyan College, were the officiating ministers.

Favorite hymns of the deceased were played by the organist, Mrs. E. G. Linder of Fairfield who also provided the musical interlude between the services in charge of Dr. Mathews and Dr. Chadwick.

The pallbearers were: Roy COOP, Bruce COOP, William FERRELL, Raymond COOP, Harry COOP and Jay Simmons. Interment was in Evergreen cemetery, Fairfield.

Mary Olive BELVILLE was born in Jefferson county, Iowa, Nov. 13, 1869, and passed away at Mt. Pleasant on Aug. 23, 1956, thus being in her 87th year.

She was the daughter of Lafayette and Cynthia COOP, and was educated in the schools of Jefferson county and at the college in Le Grande, Iowa. She then taught school for several years in Jefferson county.

On Nov. 20, 1892, she married John BELVILLE, living in Washington, Iowa, all but one year spent in Fairfield, of their married life. Her husband passed away on Jan. 9, 1928.

One child was born to this union, Cecile May Marie BELVILLE, who is the wife of Professor Glover FERRELL of Mt. Pleasant, with whom she made her home after her husband's death.

On Jan. 1, 1955, she had a serious accident which caused her to be hospitalized, and for several months she has been a patient at the Kennedy Nursing Home in Mt. Pleasant where she received devoted and loving care.

Besides her daughter, Mrs. FERRELL, she is survive by two sisters, Mrs. Bertha FLINSPACH and Miss Myrtle COOP of Fairfield, and by one brother-in-law, the Rev. D. W. THOMPSON, also of Fairfield.

Also surviving are two grandsons, Robert Belville FERRELL of Washington, Iowa and John Woodring FERRELL of Charles City, Iowa. There are also five great-grandchildren.

Mrs. BELVILLE was a member of the First Methodist church of Mt. Pleasant, and always took an active interest in her church as long as health permitted. She was a Past Noble Grand of the Rebekah Lodge at Washington, and a member of the Women's Relief Corps of Mt. Pleasant.

Mrs. BELVILLE will be remembered as possessing a sunny, loving disposition, never happier than when surrounded by her grandsons and their children, and was give to the worship and service of her Lord. "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord."

Pleasant; Mr. and Mrs. Robert FERREL (sic - FERRELL) of Washington; Mr. and Mrs. John FERRELL of Charles City; Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Dysart of Cedar Rapids; Mrs. M. I. Godbey and Mrs. Dale Godbey of Ft. Madison.

Besides these, the following from out of town attended the funeral of Olive COOP BELVILLE:

V. Humphreys of Wapello; Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Grim of Morning Sun; Mr. and Mrs. Olan Rubie and Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Robertson of Mt. Pleasant.
