MRS. A. L. BELLES DIED THIS MORNING

Mrs. A. L. BELLES, one of the best known women in Fairfield died suddenly this morning about 5:30 after only a few hours illness. The immediate cause of her death was heart failure superinduced by a fall which she sustained last Saturday while going about her household duties at her home on the corner of Adams and Fourth street.

Since the accident Saturday she had complained at various times of pains in her chest. She would not allow a physician to be called on account of the accident, as she was seemingly only shaken up a bit and had no bruises or other evidences of serious injury.

She attended to her home duties all the time and yesterday, after noon assisted the Presbyterian ladies at the church to pack several barrels of clothing and other things to send away. When she returned home in the evening she prepared supper for the family seemingly felling as well as usual.

During the night she was attack (sic) with severe pains around the heart and passed away this morning. Her death is a sad blow to her husband and children. A daughter, Lucia, and son Charles are at home, other children are in the east but will arrive some time Friday night when the funeral arrangements will be completed.

DEATHS.

Mrs Emily BALDWIN-BELLES

Emily BALDWIN was born February 4th, 1844, in Marion township, Lee county, Iowa, about eight miles from Salem. There she grew to womanhood and there she lived until 1888, when, with her husband and family, she moved to her home in Fairfield.

She was joined in marriage to Adam L. BELLES, and to them were born six children, one, a daughter, having died in infancy. Two sons and three daughters have grown to manhood and womanhood. Besides her husband and children, she is survived by one sister, Mrs. John A. WORKMAN, nee Elizabeth C. BALDWIN, of Salem, Iowa.

Mrs. BELLES' health had been impaired for some time, but she was able to accomplish her usual duties to the last. Her final illness was of but a few hours' duration, and she peacefully slipped from earth to heaven, on Thursday morning, Oct. 28, 1909. Mrs. BELLES was a true christian, a faithful and loving wife and a tender mother, and has been for several years a devoted member of the Presbyterian church. She will be greatly missed by large number of friends, and much sympathy goes out to the bereaved husband and children in their sorrow. The surviving children are: Lucia L. BELLES, Clara BELLES and Charles Chester BELLES, of Fairfield; Mrs. J. W. MILLER (Laura) of Philadelphia, Pa., and Burton B. BELLES, of Marshalltown, Iowa.

Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon at the Presbyterian church, conducted by Rev. Geo. L. Minear, and interment was made in Evergreen cemetery.
