A. L. BELLES BURIAL HERE
Former Fairfield Resident Dies in West Point, Ia., Sunday

Adam L. BELES (sic) of West Point, Iowa (note: in Lee Co., IA), and a former resident of Fairfield, died Sunday at 2:30 a.m., at his home. He was 94 years old, having been born September 22, 1839. He had been bedfast for three years.

The burial will be in Evergreen cemetery at 3:00 o'clock on Tuesday in charge of the Fairfield Masons and Rev. Gilbert Voorhies.

Mr. BELLES was a member of the German Reform churdh (sic), the Masonic lodge, a member of the G. A. R., and had been a resident of Fairfield from 1897 to 1910.

On November 24, 1875, he married Emma BALDWIN, near St. Paul, Iowa, and to this union five children were born, as follows:

Lucia, Laura, Burton B., Clara and Charles. Lucia preceded him in death. He is also survived by a brother, Ruben H. of Alberta, Canada, a sister Matilda TUTTLE of Pleasant Lake, Indiana. His wife died October 28, 1909, in Fairfield, and on February 21, 1912, he was married to Sarah E. SANDERSON of West Point, Iowa, whom he procedes (sic - precedes) in death.

Mr. BELLES had been a school teacher in Lee county for a number of years and later retired to a farm.

Note: Buried in Lot 2nd.111 with first wife Emily 'Emma' BALDWIN and their daughter, Lucia (who died in 1916). Second wife Sarah died in 1946 and is buried in West Point, IA.
