… --Mr. and Mrs. D. R. BEATTY, in their sad trouble, are certainly entitled to the sympathy and condolence of their numerous friends in this community. They lost, last evening, their bright little eleven year old boy, Freddie. He was taken sick Saturday morning, and his father and mother thought it some trifling complaint, but growing worse, they called Dr. Mohr yesterday morning. His disease was malignant scarlet fever. At 10 o'clock last night, the angel of death came, the golden gate was lowered, and the light and joy of that household, their darling little boy, was drawn up to the everlasting abode of bliss. …

Death ofFred BEATTY. (sic)

The home of Mr. and Mrs. D. R. BEATTY is saddened by the death of their eldest son, Freddy, which occurred on Monday night of this week. He had been ill but a day or two and no dangerous results were anticipated until shortly before his death. The disease which carried him off is pronounced a type of scarlet fever. Freddie was an unusually bright and active boy, about eleven years of age, and a general favorite with friends and playmates. The funeral occurred from the home of the parents, near the C., B. & Q. depot, yesterday afternoon, Rev. C. Reed officiating. The remains were interred in the Evergreen Cemetery.
