Winfield, Ia., Feb. 27--Cora Viola PIFER was born July 15, 1875, in Shelby county, Illinois, and died Feb. 19, 1931, at the age of 55 years. At the age of 3 years she came with her parents to Edgington, Rock Island county, where on Jan. 18, 1899, she was united in marriage to William Frederick BEARDSLEY, who preceded her in death last Oct. 12.
From this union were born two sons, Elbert Rufus, who preceded her in death in the year 1925, and Lee Roy, now of Detroit, Mich.
For the past 13 years Mrs. BEARDSLEY has lived in the Olds community, during which time she has been a faithful and active member of the Olds church. In her office as a deaconess she has left an example highly worthy of exemplification.
In her life and her endeavors in this office, and in her associations with her fellow church officials her spirit was the personification of simplicity, good will to others, and friendly helpfulness. Faithful to her trust she was interested in the spiritual welfare of others. While her church will miss her service, it rejoices in her eternal gain which is as the Apostle Paul declared--"far better."
Besides the son, Lee Roy, Mrs. BEARDSLEY leaves to mourn her departure two grandchildren, Delbert and Clarence of Des Moines, Ia.; her father, William F. PIFER of Edgington, Ill., and two brothers, Rev. N. F. PIFER of Van Cleve, Ia., and Earl E. PIFER of East Moline, Ill.
Interment was made in the Fairfield cemetery (sic).
