Walter G. BEAN Retired Local Merchant, Dies

Walter G. BEAN, 82, former chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Jefferson County Hospital and retired local merchant, died suddenly Tuesday at 4:45 p.m. at the Jefferson County Hospital.

BEAN had been in failing health for some time, He was admitted to the hospital shortly after suffering a heart attack at his home at 605 S. Third St.

Services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church with Dr. John R. Dilley officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

BEAN was born Sept. 9, 1884 in Washington County, the son of Frank and Dora CRAYNE BEAN. He was reared and educated in Washington County. For 20 years he operated a hardware store on the south side of the square in partnership with M.D. Rodibaugh.

Later he operated a hardware store and coal business in New Chicago for 15 years.

BEAN was married to Minnie DOWNS Oct. 16, 1907. She preceded her husband in death Sept. 18, 1960.

BEAN served on the hospital board for 18 years, including three years as chairman. He retired from office in 1964. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Masonic lodge, Elks club and Lions club.

Surviving are one daughter, Dora BEAN, Highland Park, Ill., and one son, Robert BEAN, Battle Creek, Iowa. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, one great grandchild; one brother, Norman BEAN, and one sister, Mrs. Milburn SPESSARD, both of Ainsworth.

He was preceded in death by one son, two sisters and one brother.

NOTICE OF PROBATE OF WILL, OF APPOINTMENT OF EXECUTORS, AND NOTICE TO CREDITORS

In The District Court Of The State Of Iowa In And For Jefferson County

In The Matter Of The Estate Of Water G. BEAN, Deceased.

To All Persons Interested In The Estate Of Walter G. BEAN Deceased:

You are hereby notified that on the 10th day of August, 1967, the last will and testament of Walter G. BEAN deceased bearing date of the 28th day of January, 1961, was admitted to probate in the above named court and that Robert S. BEAN and Dora E. BEAN were appointed Co-Executors of said estate.

Notice is further given that any action to set aside said will must be brought in the district court of said county within one year from the date of the second publication of his notice, or thereafter be forever barred.

Notice is further given that all persons indebted to said estate are requested to make immediate payment to the undersigned, and creditors having claims against said estate shall file them with the clerk of the above named district court, as provided by law, duly authenticated, for allowance; and unless so filed within six months from the second publication of this notice (unless otherwise allowed or paid) such claim shall thereafter be forever barred.
