Victor D. BATES

FAIRFIELD -- Victor Dallas BATES, 806 West Briggs street, succumbed to a heart attack at his home at 6 a.m. Feb. 17.

BATES had suffered an attack in June of 1953. He arose about 4 a.m. and complained of feeling ill; a physician was summoned, but was unable to save BATES' life.

BATES' wife is critically ill with cancer in Jefferson County hospital.

A native of Jefferson county, BATES was born July 7, 1894, the son of Thomas J. and Ruth ADAMS BATES. He was married to Ethel RODGERS on Nov. 17, 1915.

Also surviving are two sons, Rodger and Kenneth BATES; a sister, Mrs. Perry PARSONS, and four grandchildren, all of Fairfield.

Two sisters are dead.

Last rites will be held at the Hoskins funeral home at 2 p.m. Friday. Dr. L. L. Weis, pastor of First Methodist church, will officiate, and burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
