Grave rites for Lawrence BATES

M. Lawrence BATES, former resident of the Beckwith Community in Jefferson County, died at 1 a.m. Wednesday in Burlington (note: in Des Moines Co., IA).

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Asbury Methodist Church in Burlington. Graveside services and burial will take place following the services in Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield.

Born and reared in the Perlee area, BATES was a veteran of World War 1 (sic - World War I), and had been employed at Davenport for a number of years prior to moving to Burlington 15 years ago.

BATES is survived by his widow and one sister who resides in Davenport.
