Mrs. BATES Dies At Davenport

Mrs. Beulah BATES, 80, 809 S. Sixth, died at 12:30 a.m. today at the Mercy Hospital in Davenport (note: in Scott Co., IA) where she had been admitted about 9 p.m. Monday. She suffered a heart condition.

Last rites will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. E. Wayne Ryan officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Beulah BATES was born Nov. 14, 1891, in Ottumwa. She was the daughter of Alonzo and Leora NICKELS CONNELL. She was reared and educated in Fairfield.

She was married in 1908 to Fred BATES who died May 25, 1953. Mrs. BATES was a member of the Free Methodist Church and the Degree of Honor.

Survivors include one son, Clarence BATES, Davenport; two sisters, Olive GALES, Moline, and Pauline THORNTON, San Jose, Calif.; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, two brothers and three sisters.
