FAIRFIELD (UP)--John G. BARWISE, 64, secretary of the Louden Machinery Co. here died unexpectedly at his home Saturday.
BARWISE, an attorney, had been in ill health for about two years, but had continued his duties without interruption.
It was not imnmediately determined whether death resulted from a heart attack or a chronic lung congestion from which he had been suffering.
A native of St. Paul, Minn., BARWISE, joined Louden in 1916 as legal counsel and patent attorney. After World War I service he became secretary of the firm.
He was married in 1947 to the former Grace McGIFFIN.
Other survivors include his brother, James BARWISE, and a sister, Mrs. Grace ELMER, both of St. Paul.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Presbyterian Church here.

Fairfield -- John G. BARWISE, secretary of the Louden Machinery Co., died suddenly at his home, 503 South Main, at 10:30 Saturday morning. He had been in ill health for two years but had continued to carry on his duties until the time of his death.
He was born in St. Paul, Minn., on June 29, 1892. Following his graduation from law school he came to Fairfield in 1916 and joined the Louden company as legal counsel and patent attorney. Later he became secretary of the company and served in that capacity both before and after the sale of the company to Mechanical Handling Corporation of Detroit.
He was a veteran of World War I. He joined Unit R here and served in France with the unit which was made of Fairfield, Mt. Pleasant and Ottumwa boys.
He had been active in civic and community affairs during the entire 40 years he had lived here. He served as chairman of the Jefferson county selective service board during World War II.
He was married in 1947 to Grace McGIFFIN. Besides his wife he is survived by a brother, James BARWISE, and a sister, Mrs. Grace ELMER, both of St. Paul.
He was a member of the Presbyterian church and had been a member of its board of trustees for several years. He was also a past president of the American Legion post, was also a Mason and an Elk.
Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church at 2 p.m. on Monday. Services were held by the Rev. Dr. Curtis R. Douglass.
