Page 7, Column 3Obituary -- Thomas BARTHOLOMEW.
Thomas BARTHOLOMEW departed this life last Sunday evening at half past seven o'clock, aged eighty years, five months and twenty-three days. He was born near Belfast, Ireland, July 10th, 1811, and in 1837 was married to Agnes N. SPEER. They came to the United States in 1839, stopping in Huntingdon county, Pennsylvania, until the spring of 1842, when they removed to this state, reaching Fairfield the seventh day of June. They lived several years in this city in the house still standing, immediately west of the Baptist church, which he built with his own hands. He then moved to his farm on the Libertyville road, now adjoining the city limits, and lived there until about twelve years ago. They raised a family of seven children, three of which, Robert, James and Mary, are dead. John lives in this city and Thomas A. in Central City, Colorado. Mrs. Agnes J. BARTON lives in Buchanan township and Mrs. Kate GODDARD in Leadville, Colorado.
Mr. BARTHOLOMEW was a member of the Presbyterian church. He has been in poor health for a number of years, and no doubt it was a relief to him to be called to his eternal home. w.
