Death of Mrs. BARTHOLOMEW.

On the 24th ult., at her home near this city, died Mrs. Nancy BARTHOLOMEW, wife of Thomas BARTHOLOMEW, in the 67th year of her age. Deceased was born in County Antrim, near Belfast, Ireland. She was married to Mr. BARTHOLOMEW in 1837, and in 1838 removed to America. They resided in the in the eastern states a few years, and then came to Iowa, having lived in this county nearly forty years. Nine children were born to the, five of whom still survive. Christmas Eve, the date on which Mrs. BARTHOLOMEW died, was also the anniversary of the death of her youngest son, James, who was accidentally shot in this city a few years ago. For many years the subject of this sketch was a member of the Presbyterian church of this city. She was a woman held in high esteem by her neighbors, and was a kind and affectionate wife and mother. The funeral occurred on the 26th ult., Dr. Ewing conducting the services, and the remains were interred in the cemetery near this city.

Note: Buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield, IA, in Lot Old.P.247 with husband Thomas who died in 1892. Her maiden name was SPEER.
