On Sunday last, at the home of her son-in-law, Geo. W. WILLIAMS, in this city, occurred the death of Mrs. Jane M. BARR, in the 61st year of her age. Mrs. BARR had been a resident of this city for some years, and had been an invalid nearly all of the time and a great sufferer. Her death was sudden and unexpected, taking place while she was sitting in her chair and no one in the room. The funeral accurred (sic) Monday.

Note: This lady is something of an anomaly; she is buried in Evergreen Cemetery, in Lot Old.P.306, which is supposed to be George WILLIAMS' lot, but there are only COOK burials on it besides Jane. The cemetery listing compiled by Verda Baird, former local genealogy researcher, noted that Jane was born in 1809. The WPA Graves Registration Survey notes a birthday of March 5, 1849 (and age 31 at death). Her obituary notes she was in her 61st year, which would put her birthdate about 1820. We do not have a record of what BARR she was married to, or how she is connected to the George WILLIAMS who is buried in Evergreen (if she is at all).
