Tuesday, May 17, 2005Joe STALDER, 87, of Brighton, died at 11:15 a.m. Monday, May 16, 2005, at Washington County Hospital and Clinics in Washington, Iowa.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain with the Rev. Marty Goetz officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Prayers for a Christian Wake will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Family visitation will be at 6 p.m. before the prayer service.
Memorials can be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Gould Funeral Home in Brighton is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. STALDER was born Jan. 19, 1918, near Coppock, the son of Joseph and Mary KAUFMAN STALDER. He married Jean MILLER July 3, 1951, in East Pleasant Plain. She died Feb. 1, 1998.
He was raised in the Coppock area and attended Coppock schools.
He lived all of his married life in the East Pleasant Plain area where he farmed and worked for the Jefferson County Road Department. He retired in 1979 as a road foreman after working 27 years.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Survivors include three sons, John STALDER and wife Sharon of Jefferson, Ken STALDER and wife Cheryl of Huxley and Glen STALDER of Richland; one daughter, Vicki DUENSING of Washington; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Alfred STALDER; and three sisters, Olive EMRY, Mary NEFF and Edith LOWRY.
